Salters are proud to support this event, in memory of two gentlemen who were dedicated to whippet racing and sadly lost their battles with cancer. The event was all in aid of charity and raised a wonderful £841 for Cancer Research. Kathryn Spark kindly provides this report.
Well what can we say about this day? We were overwhelmed with the support for our Open this year in memory of two well respected whippet racers, George & Gilbert and their dogs.
On behalf of both families we would like to thank everybody who attended and supported our charity event. We hope everybody who attended enjoyed the day as much as we did. George & Gilbert would have been very proud.
The racing event was again kindly sponsored by Salters who supplied bags of food for all four Supreme finalists – thank you for your continued support. A very big thank you to all the workers and helpers during the day helping raise money for a charity close to the hearts of both families, Cancer Research.
During the day there was a bouncy castle which all the kids seemed to enjoy and the racing was followed with a hog roast – two great additions to the day.
There was plenty of good racing and on a number of occasions the camera had to be used to determine the race winners. Well done to all the winners and everyone who took part – we hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Well done to Russ & The Power winning the main trophy for the second year running. Also well done to Mark & Andrea & Boots winning the veterans & Luke & Gemma winning Scratch with Chaos n Calm.
Thank you to Tina & Sally for taking photos during the day – it was really appreciated.
Finally a very big thank you to everybody who donated raffle prizes, dog food and kindly donated money to the charity including everyone who donated their winnings back to Cancer Research. We raised a grand total of £841.10 for Cancer Research over the weekend – an absolutely fantastic achievement.
Supreme Winner 2017 – The Power

Unfortunately we did not have a dog to run in this event as our veteran has retired due to age and our other dog has had to retire due to injury. Our pup is 10 ½ months old and is already being fed Salters and has his first big puppy race at the weekend in Scotland.
